Studio Policies

Tuition

Though students are enrolled by month, tuition is calculated based on a 42 lesson/year schedule. Each month contains 3 or more lesson weeks. Tuition is due at the last lesson of the month for the upcoming month, or by the 5th of the month. Payments may be made by cash or check.

  • Please make checks payable to “Devin Matthews,” not Childbloom.

Absences

If students miss lessons due to other activities, they will not be eligible for a make up lesson, and the full tuition payment is due. If students must miss a lesson due to illness or a family emergency, or if the instructor must cancel, arrangements may be made for a make up lesson. If a suitable class time for the make up cannot be scheduled, the amount for that lesson will be credited to the next month’s tuition payment.

  • If your child was sick enough to stay home from school, please don’t come to their lesson and risk exposing others to illness.

  • For extended periods of absence, please notify your instructor of intent to drop by the 15th of the month preceding your withdrawal from the program.

Instructor Expectations of the Student

In Class Behavior

Students are expected to behave appropriately during lessons, following the instructor’s directions to the best of their abilities. Parents may be asked to assist with issues that arise with their child’s behavior in class. Challenges during lessons can be “teachable moments” that benefit the whole class. The instructor will strive to ensure each child’s learning needs are met. If disruptive behavior persists, the child may be excused from the lesson. If technical, curricular, or conceptual problems persist, the instructor will discuss with the parent the best course of action for that student.

At Home Practice

Students are expected to practice at home between lessons. Parents should be present at the lesson so they understand their child’s practice goals for the week ahead and can assist during practice time. There are all sorts of successful practice routines. Talk to your instructor about appropriate practice habits for your child. Take advantage of the Childbloom Learning Club for valuable tools to help with at home practice.

Getting the Right Guitar

Students will need a nylon string guitar proportional to their size and a foot stool to facilitate proper seating position. Call or email us before purchasing a guitar. We can help you find the right guitar for the best price. These instruments are generally under $200 for a good beginner level guitar. Hansen Music in Billings carries excellent nylon string guitars for kids, and offers rental options as well.
